چکیده

This paper introduces a general framework to allow the concepts of multi agent technology to be extended to support reconfigurable systems – systems in which the functionality of both the associated hardware and software can be altered dynamically or statically with time. The utilization of such a paradigm has the potential to greatly increase the flexibility, efficiency, expandability, and maintainability of such systems and to provide an attractive alternative to the current set of disjoint approaches that are currently applied to this problem domain. The focus of the work described in this paper is to address how unified multi agent architectures can be created and applied to the reconfigurable hardware domain.

Configuration Management for Networked Reconfigurable Embedded Devices

Distribution of product updates to embedded devices can increase product lifetimes for consumers and boost revenues for vendors. Dynamic provisioning of application solutions to embedded devices are complex due to their heterogeneous nature. This paper proposes a configuration management architectural framework which incorporates a mobile agent based push methodology for networked reconfigurabl...

Message-Passing Concurrency for Scalable, Stateful, Reconfigurable Middleware

Message-passing concurrency (MPC) is increasingly being used to build systems software that scales well on multi-core hardware. Functional programming implementations of MPC, such as Erlang, have also leveraged their stateless nature to build middleware that is not just scalable, but also dynamically reconfigurable. However, many middleware platforms lend themselves more naturally to a stateful...

System - Level Design Space Exploration of Reconfigurable Architectures

R econfigurable architectures are becoming increasingly popular as they bear a promise of combining the flexibility of software with the performance of hardware. Nevertheless, such architectures are subject to numerous constraints, such as performance, memory requirements, chip area, and power consumption. To create an efficient design, performing Design Space Exploration (DSE) at various stage...

A Dynamically Reconfigurable Virtual Instrument

Hardware acceleration of software is a necessity in many computer engineering applications. The utilization of multiple processing elements adds speed, efficiency, fault tolerance and other desired features. Dynamic reconfiguration on a general purpose platform resulted in an economical implementation of a virtual instrument. A multi sensor computer system can operate in real-time on a scaleabl...

A Framework to Improve IP Portability on Reconfigurable Computers

This paper presents a framework that improves the portability and ease-of-use issues of current Reconfigurable Computers (RCs). These two drawbacks should be solved in order for RC to become a mainstream solution. Portability across platforms is difficult to achieve because RC systems have diverse hardware architectures and services. This lack of portability hinders reuse, and thus, easeof-use....
